In 1991 Dr. Lawrence Murch started Seniors Day, a day dedicated to seniors with lunch and entertainment. The first year was a success with attendance at 200. Through-out the years Dr. Murch wanting to do more for the community. In 2009 he switched it from Seniors Day to Community Day, so all could enjoy. From 1991 to the present day not much has changed. The Richards Felt’s Band continues to play, with the plates of beans (a secret recipe) and large pieces of cake served to well over 450 people. After each meal Dr. Murch Takes the microphone to give away his elephant octagon canes. Many are given away each to only the lucky ones having the right numbers on their ticket. With Dr. Murch’s dedication and generosity this is one meal nobody will want to miss.
